Beyond The Grave, or simply Grave (ビヨンド・ザ・グレイヴ, Biyondo Za Gureivu?), nicknamed the "Gunslinger of Resurrection" and the "Grim Reaper", is a legendary Deadman gunslinger, the reincarnation of Brandon Heat, and the main protagonist and anti-hero of the Gungrave series. As Brandon Heat he was a hitman for Millenion, eventually becoming a full member of the Family, Millenion's innermost circle. He was then betrayed and killed by his former best friend Harry, who subsequently usurped Big Daddy's position as the boss of Millenion. Later, Brandon was brought back to life as Beyond The Grave by Dr. T, despite Big Daddy demanding that Brandon be allowed to rest in peace.[1][2] Soon after his resurrection, Grave took in Mika Asagi, his former boss's daughter, who was being hunted by Harry. Grave then began his quest of revenge against those in the organization who had betrayed him and those closest to him.[3] Grave was created by manga artist Yasuhiro Nightow. Though he is silent throughout most of the games, he is voiced by Tomokazu Seki in all media in Japanese, and Kirk Thornton in the English dubs.[4]
