Dark Force Rising is a Star Wars Legends novel written by Timothy Zahn. It is the second volume of Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, following Heir to the Empire (1991) and preceding The Last Command (1993). It was first published in hardcover by Bantam Spectra in May 1992, and it was later adapted into a comic book miniseries.
