A scream queen is an archetype actress who is most prominently featured in the horror genre, whether in film or television through notable appearances and/or recurring roles. Most scream queens are a type of heroine instead of a damsel-in-distress who at first tries to hide and eventually later escapes from danger of villains, whether monsters and whatnot where she fights back in defense by however means against whatever in order to be free of said danger, making her the "final girl" at the end of the story.
