David Yates (born 8 October 1963) is an English filmmaker who has directed feature films, short films, and television productions. He is best known for directing the final four films in the Harry Potter series and the three films of its prequel series, Fantastic Beasts. His work on the Harry Potter series brought him critical and commercial success, along with accolades such as the British Academy Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing. Yates directed various short films and became a television director early in his career. His credits include the six-part political thriller State of Play (2003), for which he won the Directors Guild of Great Britain Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, the adult two-part documentary drama Sex Traffic (2004) and the Emmy Award-winning television film The Girl in the Café (2005). Yates is a founding member of Directors UK and has had a close partnership with Warner Bros. as a director and producer. This will be an adaptation of Pittacus Lore's novel "I Am Number Four" in the style of a Netflix Original Series. The movie betrayed the source material and the lore that Pittacus has tried to come up with for his worldbuilding and his characters. This will only be one season since production for a second season has stopped due to the pandemic, but the first season became a true adaptation to the book, albeit with a few changes. Plot for the show: A young teen and his protector, Henri, have moved from country to country across the US to stay safe from the Mongadorians that have invaded their planet and killed all the Loriens. Now in Ohio, Four, now known as John Smith, moves to a new school where he meets new people and makes new friends, even having a close relationship to one them. John's been enjoying life and having good company, when all of a sudden the Mongadorians have somehow found Henri and John. With the help from John's friends and Henri, and an unknown ally, John must protect his new home from invaders before it's too late.
