Seven pilgrims embark on a journey to the Time Tomb on the planet Hyperion, where a terrifying entity known as the Shrike—a killing machine of unknown origin—waits. Each pilgrim carries their own desperate hope: a priest questioning his faith, a scholar seeking truth, a soldier bound by duty, a poet chasing immortality, a detective hunting a criminal, a consul protecting his world, and a woman searching for her lost love.
