Canonically, Murdoc said that Ace left the band to work as a "doomsday prepper" in the desert, where he constantly gathers food and supplies, implying he's waiting for his death. But he's still essential to this franchise too, so it's unknown if he's still gonna be around (not counting the Jellystone crossover special).
