Ted's best friend since college and a lawyer. He is , like the original series, fiercely optimistic and extremely nerdy and energized. Very caring towards the environment and a loyal friend to Ted. This version of Marshall however, is less stereotyped and his upbringing is portrayed more realistically and his family (particularly his mom and brothers) aren't as big of a presence. A great husband, spends practically every minute of his day trying to make Lily happy and they have a very close relationship. Is often the voice of reason when Ted and Lily aren't.
