David Arquette (born September 8, 1971) is an American actor, former professional wrestler, director, producer, and fashion designer. In acting, he is best known for his role as Dewey Riley in the slasher film franchise Scream, for which he won a Teen Choice Award and two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. As a professional wrestler, he is best remembered for his 2000 stint in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and headlined the Slamboree pay-per-view event; he has received praise in recent times for his work on the independent circuit. A member of the Arquette acting family, he first became known during the mid-1990s after starring in several Hollywood films aside from the Scream franchise, such as Wild Bill, Never Been Kissed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, See Spot Run and Eight Legged Freaks. He has since had several television roles, such as Jason Ventress on ABC's In Case of Emergency. Arquette has also voiced Skully on the Disney Channel animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and executive produced the game show Celebrity Name Game, for which he received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. Horror Mansion is a 2025 American science fiction horror film written and directed by David Fincher and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Jerry Bruckheimer, and James Wan. Co-financed by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the first installment in the Horror Mansion trilogy. The film stars David Arquette, Sasha Calle, Isabella Sermon, Charles Parnell, Ethan Hawke, William Baldwin, Nicole Kidman, and Michael Douglas. In the film, an ex-navy AIRR teams up with a team of paranormal investigating scientists to investigate the abandoned house of her deceased parents, and is forced to also bring her daughter when the state wrongly tries to take her away. Horror Mansion premiered in London on October 8th, 2025, and was released in theaters on November 18th; the film received positive reviews with praise for its atmosphere, direction, score, and acting performances, particularly Calle and Sermon. It was also a box-office success, grossing $813 million worldwide against print and advertisement costs of $156 million. It developed its own cult following, especially for its stylistic depiction of spirits and ghosts, along with Calle and Sermon's mother and daughter chemistry. A sequel is currently in development.
