Danny Murphy is an actor from Wallsend, UK where he grew up with a predominately deaf family - parents Kelly and Charles, with an older brother (Ryan) and a younger sister (Megan). Danny was born on February 20, 2004. He is fifth-generation deaf on his father's side of the family. His parents are deaf, and his two siblings are hearing. Murphy's first language is British Sign Language (BSL), spoken English is his second language, and American Sign Language (ASL) is his 3rd language. By the time Murphy was eight years old, he had acted in a short film featuring skits. He later auditioned to host a CITV program aimed at deaf and hard of hearing viewers. Murphy also created many comedy videos on YouTube, Facebook and other social media which has generated about 5 million views up to date altogether; videos are still being posted weekly. In 2017, the producers of The Parts You Lose (2019) initiated an international casting search, supported by Deaf West Theatre, for a hard of hearing actor casting Murphy as the film's deaf boy. It happened by chance when a deaf man named John Critser, who later became Danny's Personal Assistant, alerted Danny of "The Parts You Lose" audition and hooked him up with the casting crew; upon taking his advice, Danny successfully entered an audition video to win the role of Wesley, a deaf boy who befriended the fugitive (starred by Breaking Bad (2008)'s Aaron Paul). Murphy learned American Sign Language for the role in addition to his already fluent BSL. Aaron Paul and Danny remain friends to this day, after much pranking on the movie set during filming. Danny now practices ASL with his assistant and some ASL signing friends to keep his ASL sharp for his future American movie roles in addition to the various roles he seeks to be matched with. The film "The Parts You Lose" was released in the United States in October 2019 and released in the United Kingdom in March 2020, available on YouTube, Prime Video, iTunes, and Netflix (Canada). Movie was highly rated at 4-stars. In the same year, Murphy went to Germany to host a workshop to teach deaf youths about filming and editing. He also began working on new film projects in Europe and the United States. Murphy was also previously nominated for the Chronicle Champions Awards 2017 in the Young Role Model category, and he won the Diana Award chosen by the British Deaf Association (BDA). The Diana Award was set up in the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. Finally, on February 29th, 2020, Murphy took home the latest award: the Rising Star award from the Royal Television Society awards event for his leading role in the children's series "Mission Employable," produced by ITV Signpost in Gateshead. Murphy's other projects in 2020 include working in a leading role as a presenter on CITV's "Dare Master," a 10-part series where he takes on crazy dares from extreme window cleaning to bungee jumping. The show is presented in British Sign Language. He also appeared on Blue Peter TV, a British children's television program that was first broadcast in 1958. Murphy also signed with a new talent agency named "C-Talent Agency" on August 2020 seeking new roles for his future as he is now at a young 16 years old.
