Starting his first year as a freshman at Townsend Harris High School, teenager David Platty hasn't been looking forward to high school. He didn't want to leave eight grade behind, because he enjoyed it with hanging out with friends and plus the middle school he loved is now the one he is leaving far behind. When he first arrives, it's as he's expecting it to be: bullies messing around with kids, teens smoking weed and vaping at school and in the bathrooms, and teachers giving out way too much homework. It's not until he meets Sarah Davis and her friends Julie and Kylie Wheeler. David starts to develop a crush on Sarah, wanting to get to know her better and possibly hanging out with her more and with her friends. However, a goth girl named Carly Parker develops a crush on David as well. Getting through a first tough year as a freshman, with a love triangle that David's been involved in, this has so far been his weirdest first year as a freshman of his life.
