LaKeith Lee Stanfield (born August 12, 1991) is an American actor. He made his feature film debut in Short Term 12 (2013), for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. He received further recognition for his roles in the films Get Out (2017), Sorry to Bother You (2018), Uncut Gems (2019), Knives Out (2019), and Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), the lattermost of which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Stanfield has also appeared in the films Selma (2014), Dope (2015), Straight Outta Compton (2015), Crown Heights (2017), The Photograph (2020), The Harder They Fall (2021), Haunted Mansion (2023), and The Book of Clarence (2023). On television, he starred in the series Atlanta (2016–2022), for which he won a Black Reel Award for Television, and in the horror series The Changeling (2023–present). Carl Lucas was wrongfully sentenced to prison after being accused of a crime he did not commit. Whilst in prison, Lucas was attacked by a fellow inmate who attempted to kill him. After the attack, Carl was subjected to many questionable experiments by Noah Burnstein which resulted in Lucas gaining superhuman strength and unbreakable skin. This led to Lucas escaping prison and returning to his home in Harlem and changing his name to Luke Cage as he attempted to lay low. Danny Rand was the son of wealthy businessman Wendell Rand. When Danny was a young boy, Danny and his parents went on a trip, but their private jet crashed, killing both of Danny’s parents and making him the sole survivor. Soon after the crash, Danny was found by the monks of K’un-Lun and raised as one of their own. Danny spent many years training to become the Immortal Iron Fist, eventually gaining his power by defeating the Dragon known as Shou-Lao. Once he obtained the power of the Iron Fist, Danny was instructed to guard the gateway to K’un-Lun, but he neglected his responsibilities and returned home to New York reclaiming his father’s company and his past life. Both Danny and Luke were changed by their respective incidents and vowed to help those who couldn’t help themselves. They set out to fight crime and do some good in Manhattan.
