Ferris Boyle, supposed humanitarian, describes GothCorp as the "People Company". which in truth, is only his. Through putting employees and customers before his own wellbeing, Boyle had built a very good business reputation. It is, however, all an act: underneath, Boyle is as greedy, ruthless, and coldhearted as any of those "hardboiled businessmen" he claims to have distanced himself from. After he learned of the secret experiments that one of his employees, Victor Fries had been conducting behind his back, Boyle disrupted Fries' work and destroyed his laboratory, causing Fries' to almost die and also a catastrophic accident that transformed Fries into the villain, Mister Freeze.
