Channing Matthew Tatum (born April 26, 1980) is an American actor and producer. He made his film debut in the drama Coach Carter (2005) and had his breakthrough with the sports comedy film She's the Man (2006) and the dance film Step Up (2006). He rose to prominence for playing Duke in the action films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), the title role in the comedy-drama films Magic Mike (2012), Magic Mike XXL (2015) and Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023), and an undercover cop in the action-comedy films 21 Jump Street (2012) and 22 Jump Street (2014). Tatum's other films include The Vow (2012), White House Down (2013), Foxcatcher (2014), The Hateful Eight (2015), Hail, Caesar! (2016), Logan Lucky (2017), and The Lost City (2022). He has produced several films, including the road film Dog (2022), which he also starred in and co-directed. He was named People's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2012 and one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world in 2022. Taking inspiration from Doctor Sleep in this prequel to Full Metal Jacket, Stanley Kubrick's visceral adaptation of Gustav Hasford's Vietnam War novel The Short-Timers; we can now paint a picture of what can turn a good man cruel even before the institution of the Marine Corps. Born as the fourth child and middle between his six sisters, Earle "Crazy Earl" Gerheim Hartman refuses to be made a plaything for his sisters as he enacts his malicious revenge against them. Drafted into the military to better himself, Hartman further loses himself to darkness in late World War II, Korea and early Vietnam as he maneuvers his way to becoming Parris Island's most tyrannical and sadistic Senior Drill Instructor. The film ends as the first act of Full Metal Jacket ends with Private Leonard Pratt "Gomer Pyle" Lawrence killing Hartman in the latrine on the night before Platoon 3092 graduates from Parris Island.
