A poltergeist who has haunted Hogwarts for its entire history. Peeves delights in causing chaos, though his idea of it is very childish, including writing rude words on blackboards, stuffing chewing gum into keyholes and unscrewing chandeliers. Despite his many attempts to do so, Argus Filch has been unsuccessful at getting him kicked out of the school. For reasons unknown, Peeves is terrified of the Bloody Baron, the Slytherin house ghost.
