He is placed under the Imperius Curse by Lucius Malfoy and attempts to steal the prophecy related to Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. He is injured by the defensive spells protecting the prophecy and placed in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. He is killed in the hospital when given a disguised Devil's Snare as a Christmas present.
