Harry Potter is an ordinary boy living an unhappy life with his aunt, uncle, and cousin, unaware that he is famous in a world hidden from ordinary people. On his eleventh birthday, Harry discovers that he is a wizard and is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he forms an unbreakable friendship with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, discovers the truth about his parents, and learns that the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who murdered them, has returned. As Harry grows from a lonely child into a young wizard, he uncovers secrets about Hogwarts, faces dangerous enemies, and begins to understand the strange connection between himself and Voldemort. Across his years at Hogwarts, Harry and his friends become increasingly involved in the growing conflict between the forces of good and the returning Dark Lord. They encounter ancient magic, forbidden secrets, betrayal, and devastating loss while uncovering the truth behind Voldemort's immortality. With the wizarding world descending into war, Harry must ultimately confront the greatest threat he has ever known and make the ultimate choice between fear and courage. His journey becomes the defining battle of the age, and the story of the boy who survived becomes the story of the wizard who changed the world.
