Hermione Granger was born in 1979 to Muggle (non-magical) parents, both dentists, who named her after Shakespeare. Before attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she demonstrated a natural knack for magic, receiving her acceptance letter at age eleven in 1991. Despite her Muggle background, Hermione was a voracious reader and a highly studious student who memorized her textbooks and learned spells before arriving at Hogwarts, making her incredibly knowledgeable. While the Sorting Hat considered Ravenclaw for her exceptional intellect, Hermione's desire for bravery and loyalty led her to be sorted into Gryffindor.
