The Vortigaunts are a hive-minded alien race that was enslaved during the events of Half-Life 1, being forced to fight against humanity before being freed from their slaver by Gordon Freeman himself. After being freed they join humanity in the fight against the Combine. They were originally voiced by Louis Gossett Jr. in Half-Life 2 and Episode 1, and the by Tony Todd in Episode 2 and Half-Life: Alyx. Given that multiple different Vortigaunts are seen throughout the story of the Half-Life games, you could hypothetically cast several of the suggested actors as different Vortigaunts.
