Anaïs Mitchell (/ɑːˈneɪs/; born March 26, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Mitchell has released six albums, including Hadestown (2010), Young Man in America (2012) and Child Ballads (2013).
Eurydice, a young woman looking for something to eat, goes to work in a hellish industrial version of the Greek underworld to escape poverty and the cold, and her poor singer-songwriter lover Orpheus comes to attempt to rescue her.
