Format A 6-episode series, with episodes lasting approximately 50 minutes each. This is the fifth installment of Phase 1. It blends science fiction with a thriller tone, focusing on Hal’s training as a Green Lantern. Synopsis Hal Jordan is a daring, charming test pilot with a rebellious streak. One night, an alien spacecraft crashes in the desert. Inside is Abin Sur—the Green Lantern for Sector 2814—mortally wounded following an encounter on Mars. Before he dies, his power ring seeks out someone devoid of fear; there are two potential candidates—Hal and Guy Gardner—and the ring chooses Hal, deeming him the most suitable. Hal doubts he deserves the role, and the Green Lantern Corps is equally skeptical. Sinestro, the most respected Lantern in the sector, becomes his mentor, teaching him that willpower is a discipline, while Kilowog puts him through a brutal training regimen. Meanwhile, the Manhunters—android enforcers created by the Guardians who once rebelled—begin attacking the sector, having been reactivated by an unknown party. Throughout the series, Hal evolves from an accidental choice into a true Green Lantern. This journey is complicated by the presence of Guy Gardner—who knows he was the runner-up—and by Sinestro’s growing doubts regarding the Guardians. Guy Gardner A recurring supporting character. Proud and short-tempered, he discovers that he was the ring’s initial choice. In the second or third episode, Hal learns that Guy was the alternate candidate for Sector 2814 and confronts him directly. Their relationship is defined by resentment, rivalry, and a begrudging sense of mutual respect.
