Adepero Oduye hails from Brooklyn, New York City by way of Nigeria. She is a graduate of Cornell University; and has studied acting with Wynn Handman, Austin Pendleton, and Susan Batson. Her name is pronounced "Add-eh-pair-o Oh-due-yay." Her theatre credits include Danai Gurira's play Eclipsed, at the Yale Repertory Theatre; The Bluest Eye, at the Hartford Stage and Long Wharf Theatres; and Fela!, in the AEA workshop, directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones. Ms. Oduye first starred for writer/director Dee Rees as Alike in the award-winning short film Pariah. Among the other shorts that she has starred in are Gabriele Zamparini's Water; Russell Costanzo's The Tested; and Nadiah Hamzah's Sub Rosa.

It has been a year since Oliver Queen returned to Star City and became the hero known as Green Arrow. One night Oliver’s long-time friend Tommy Merlyn contacted him to tell him that his father had gone missing, Oliver comforted his friend by taking him out to clear his head. The two go out to a bar where they watch a talented singer perform on stage, the girl catches Oliver’s attention as he has felt he has seen her before. Her name is Dinah Drake and the two hit it off before Oliver asks Dinah out on a date. Meanwhile in the night, there is a new criminal roaming through the streets of Star City known as The Dark Archer. While he has the same goals as the Green Arrow to rid all crimes in the city, he will not be hesitate to kill anyone who gets in his way. Oliver tracks the Dark Archer and approaches him to have a civil talk with him, however the conversation goes south and the two end up in an encounter. This all ends when the mysterious female vigilante steps in a to end the fight by using her ultrasonic scream. The scream causes The Dark Archer to make a run for it, instead of chasing after him Oliver chases after the females vigilante. Oliver finally discovers that her name is Black Canary and that she’s just like him that she’s wanting to seek justice.
