The Commencement Speaker is heard only as a voiceover during Jack's graduation flashback. He speaks the hollow platitudes of institutional encouragement: "The decisions you make from this day forward will give you the opportunity to fulfill your individual potential." His voice is warm, authoritative, and utterly meaningless—a functionary reciting scripted hope to captive graduates. He represents the system Jack is fleeing: the machine of expectation, conformity, and pre-planned lives. When the twist reveals Jack's entire past is fabricated, the Speaker's words become bitterly ironic. He was never real. The advice was never meant for anyone.
