In the years prior to this story, the world lived in fear of giant monsters rather than nuclear annihlation. However, as science progressed near the end of the 20th century the tides began to turn. Scientists and government agencies developed a series of biological weapons that were capable of neutralizing or killing the monsters that plagued humanity. By 1989 they had all fallen, except for one- Godzilla. The colossal, radioactive titan was eventually brought down by a weaponized bacteria that consumed nuclear energy. This neutralized Godzilla and left him laying at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, weakened and immobilized but somehow still alive. Fast forward to the dawn of the millennium and Earth's peace is shattered yet again by a new threat- alien invaders. They came out of the sky and began waging war with the world's armies, dominating with their advanced weapons, and quite shockingly, their own giant, mind-controlled monsters Gigan and King Ghidorah. The aliens' goal is to enslave the people of Earth, turn the entire planet into their colony and plunder it's resources. Desperate, the World Peace Council settles on one drastic measure- resurrect Godzilla so he could help fight the invaders, then hope it doesn't turn on them afterwards.
