five elementary school friends—Satsuki, Keiichirou, Momoko, Hajime, and Leo—who must confront and exorcise vengeful spirits haunting their town, released from an abandoned schoolhouse by urbanization, using a book left by Satsuki's deceased mother; the main antagonist, the demon Amanojaku, gets sealed in Satsuki's cat, Kaya, reluctantly helping them seal other ghosts and eventually the most powerful spirit, Ouma, with the help of the book and their combined efforts.
