Johnny Blaze is a biker who makes a living working as a mechanic in a circus to help maintain his home and a nearby local orphanage and who in one night, he and his fiance Roxanne Simpson were sacrificed by a gang of Satanists. After making a pact with a demon (Mephisto), the man takes the form of a flaming skeleton and thus, embodying the Spirit of Vengeance. Johnny now goes hunting all sinners and demons in the world and especially those responsible for the murder of Roxanne.
