Anthony Dwane Mackie (born September 23, 1978) is an American actor. He gained wide recognition for portraying Sam Wilson / Falcon / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and headlining the Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) and its continuation film Captain America: Brave New World (2025). Mackie made his film debut in 8 Mile (2002), and earned critical recognition for his roles in Brother to Brother (2004), which garnered him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actor, and The Hurt Locker (2008), which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the AAFCA Awards. He also played Tupac Shakur in Notorious (2009) and Martin Luther King Jr. in the HBO film All the Way (2016). On television, Mackie starred as Takeshi Kovacs in the second season of Netflix's Altered Carbon (2020) and currently leads the Peacock series Twisted Metal (2023–present). In theatre, he has performed in Broadway and Off-Broadway adaptations, including Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, A Soldier's Play, and Carl Hancock Rux's Talk, for which he won an Obie Award in 2002. It begins with Cobra Commander escaping after his defeat in the previous film and revealing that Cobra has secretly placed sleeper agents in major world governments. These agents cause global instability through assassinations and sabotage, plunging the world into chaos. The G.I. Joes, disbanded and scattered, must reunite to confront this new threat. They launch a daring mission to rescue a key member who was captured by Cobra, learning that Cobra Commander plans to use a massive orbital EMP weapon to shut down global infrastructure, paving the way for Cobra’s dominance. As the Joes fight against Cobra’s hidden forces, they face betrayal from within their ranks. With the world on the brink of collapse, the Joes mount a final assault on Cobra's headquarters and the space station housing the EMP weapon. In the climactic battle, the Joes disable the weapon and defeat Cobra, but several key Cobra leaders escape, leaving the threat looming for the future. The movie ends with Cobra’s plan foiled but the lingering danger of their return, as the Joes brace for future battles in a world still recovering from the chaos.
