Max, a clever, scrappy terrier mix, and his best friend Pepper, a sassy, adventurous tabby cat. Alongside them are Ozzy, a pigeon with big dreams of flying beyond the city, and Rudy, a chubby, laid-back bulldog who never turns down a nap. During the trip, disaster strikes when their pet relocation van crashes into a river while crossing the mountains. The driver escapes, but the pets, locked in their crates, drift away into the wilderness. The animals break free and realize they’re stranded far from civilization, with no hope of getting home unless they stick together. Benny, who’s never had to fend for himself, assumes the role of reluctant leader, while Luna tries to stay optimistic despite the odds. They encounter all sorts of wild creatures along their journey, including a mischievous family of raccoons, a wise but somewhat sarcastic owl, and a pack of wild coyotes that pose a serious threat. As the group navigates through forests, rivers, and mountains, they have to put aside their differences and adapt to their new surroundings. Benny learns to be brave, Luna finds her inner strength, and even Bliss, with her high-maintenance attitude, becomes more down-to-earth. Along the way, they uncover hidden talents they never knew they had, from Toby’s knack for finding food to Zeus’s unexpected speed despite his age. The real challenge comes when they find the remains of the crashed van, but realize it’s been discovered by the coyotes who now guard the road to safety.
