The novel follows teenager Charlotte "Charlie" Emily and her childhood friends who return to their hometown of Hurricane, Utah, to commemorate a friend who was murdered at the local Freddy Fazbear's Pizza restaurant ten years ago. While investigating the now-abandoned pizzeria, the group find themselves pursued by the killer William Afton, who was never caught, as well as the restaurant's haunted animatronic characters.
