In a world where humanity has been at war for years against a race of gigantic monsters, the conflict seemed to have ended when the king of the creatures falls in love with a human woman. Sixteen years later, their son tries to lead a normal life, but while his mother wants him to have friends and go to college, his father expects him to become his successor as king of the kaiju. Duncan has no interest in pursuing his father's interests, but the way he is treated at school gradually disillusions him with the human world.
