Heir apparent to the Adrestian Empire. Edelgard is the leader of the Black Eagles House. She secretly conspires with the enemies of the Church of Seiros. Eventually she takes the throne and launches a war against the Church, the Kingdom and the Alliance as part of her goal of erradicating the Crest system. She was abused and experimented with on account of her crest and is the sympathetic main antagonist. In a break from Azure Moon canon, she is imprisoned and not killed following her defeat.
