The Betrayal (Daisatsujin orochi 大殺陣 大蛇) is a 1966 Japanese samurai film directed by Tokuzō Tanaka.
The plot concerns Takuma (Raizo Ichikawa) an honorable samurai who agrees to take the blame for a murder to protect a fellow clan member. He is promised a year in exile and then a return to his former life, but he is betrayed by a political rival who seizes power, marries Takuma's fiancée, and hunts him as a fugitive. Disillusioned by the bankruptcy of the samurai's code of honor, Takuma becomes a hunted man, eventually leading to a massive, cathartic showdown with his enemies.
