DeChant was the commander of the Alpha Team first sent in to arrest Ricardo Irving, He took an early retirement from army service in America, and became a soldier of fortune for a private military company centered in Africa. There, he witnessed the tragedies inflicted by B.O.W. on the area, and felt compelled to join the BSAA to try and stop them.
