Sam graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003. He was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Award (Most Promising Performance) for Outlying Islands at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs. Sam has appeared in various TV programmes including: A Very British Sex Scandal (Channel 4), Any Human Heart (Film4), Midsomer Murders (ITV) and as a regular character in BBC Soaps River City and Doctors. It's based on the novel The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway 1926 and describes the soldiers' feelings after returning home from WWI. The protagonist and narrator is an American Jacob Barnes. This is a story about a group of young soldiers living in France, they drink a lot, sleep with girls a lot and even bet who will have sex with more girls, but in reality, nothing is as it seems and they aren't happy in life. Jacob strives for a full and carefree life spent with friends at parties, restaurants. But, he is marred by a war injury that renders him impotent and thus unable to fulfill his feelings for Lady Brett Ashley, whom he loves and presumably she too. However, they know that the relationship is impossible cause she would have to cheat on him, which she doesn't want. They deal on her dating, she confides in him about her love problems. The men decide to travel to Spain for the Fiesta of San Fermín in Pamplona iwhich s known for the Running of the Bulls. They think there is no reason to be alive anymore for them so they don't care if they will die there. Jacob is a big fan of Bull fighting. Brett Is there too and she is there with her Fianceé Mike, but she falls in love with the young bullfighter Pedro Romero. They are together but after a while their relationship doesn't last and she calls Jake. In the final scene in Taxi in Madrid Brett tells Jake she thinks they could have had a wonderful time together. Jake replies, “Yes, isn't it pretty to think so?
