Jo Gar is a fictional hardboiled, half-Filipino private detective created by Raoul Whitfield. He first appeared in the short story West of Guam, published in the February 1930 issue of Black Mask magazine. Based in Manila, he is known for his calm demeanor"tone-less" voice, and sharp, intuitive deductions, distinguishing him from typical pulp detectives of that era.
