Teddy Altman was a Skrull/Kree hybrid better known as Hulkling who uses his combined alien heritage to become a super hero.[23] Born during the Kree-Skrull War from a fling between Skrull princess Anelle and Kree champion Captain Mar-Vell, the infant Dorrek VIII was sent to Earth for safekeeping, where he was raised an Earthling, unaware of his extraterrestrial origins until his powers began to manifest.[12] Teddy's journey into heroism began when he joined the Young Avengers, a team assembled using the Avengers Fail-Safe Program to fill the void left by the Avengers. He became an integral part of the team, forming a romantic relationship with his teammate Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan. With the team found himself embroiled in conflicts that tested his loyalties and identity.[12]
During the events of the Civil War[24] and the Skrull invasion, Hulkling faced challenges from both Earth authorities and his own Skrull heritage. He played crucial roles in battles against various threats, including the infiltration of Skrulls and the struggle for freedom amidst the chaos of war.[25] Hulkling's quest for identity and purpose reached new heights during the Children's Crusade, where the team tried to locate the Scarlet Witch and uncover the truth about his lineage. Amidst time-traveling adventures and battles against formidable foes, Teddy confronted his past and embraced his destiny.[26] After a period of retirement from superheroics, Hulkling and Wiccan found themselves drawn back into action, facing interdimensional threats such as the parasite called Mother.[27] Their bond strengthened as they navigated through trials and reconciled with their roles as heroes.[1]
Hulkling's role as a unifying figure between the Kree and Skrull empires was thrust into the spotlight during the Empyre event. As the prophesized leader, becoming Emperor Dorrek-Vell he faced immense pressure and betrayal from within his ranks. Ultimately, he emerged victorious, solidifying his position as a respected leader and symbol of unity.[28] Hulkling's leadership was tested once again during the Last Annihilation crisis, where he navigated political alliances and cosmic threats to protect his people and allies. Despite facing overwhelming odds, he proved his mettle and ensured the safety of all his people.[29]
