Paul D'Arnot is a fictional French naval officer and one of Tarzan's closest lifelong friends in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan book series. First appearing in the classic 1912 novel Tarzan of the Apes, d'Arnot is rescued by Tarzan from a hostile native tribe. In return for saving his life, d'Arnot becomes Tarzan's mentor to the civilized world.
