Dr. Tarantula (born on October, the 29th 1968) (real name Dr. Timothy James Tarantino) is a formerly crippled scientist. While working silently under Nicholas Osborn for Osborn Unlimited, and later as the leader and founder member of the Web Syndicate, he ends up being another one of Chargeshock and the Justice Avengers' arch-enemies. He is the secondary antagonist of Season 1, the main antagonist of Season 2, a major antagonist of Season 3, and the main antagonist of Season 4 in collaboration with Lex Luthor. Doctor Tarantula is regarded as one of Chargeshock's worst enemies. Appearance Dr. Tarantino is a tall, lean man with slicked-back black hair, pale skin, and sharp, angular features that accentuate his ever-present smirk. His green eyes glow faintly yellow when his mutation is active. He wears a torn lab coat over a black turtleneck and gloves reinforced with metallic fingertips. After his transformation into Dr. Tarantula, four cyber-organic spider limbs extend from his back — a grotesque fusion of robotics and arachnid DNA, each capable of precision movement, wall-scaling, and crushing strength. He even started growing a long black wet hair and started wearing red goggles. He also started wears a grey scientist suit, around his stomach, along with a mechanical device that enables him to breathe, and four octopus arms attached to it. Personality Cunning, articulate, and dangerously intelligent, Dr. Tarantula sees himself not as a villain but as a visionary. His obsession with “perfecting” humanity drives him to commit heinous acts in the name of progress. He views morality as a weakness and evolution as his divine right to control. Although he often speaks with refined politeness, his calm exterior hides deep-seated anger and resentment, especially toward Dr. Maddie Connors and the Justice Avengers, whom he considers “primitive relics of failed evolution.” Tarantino has shown to have no fear of being killed, shown to still chase after Chargeshock even as large amounts of water leaks into his lab. Although being insane, he feels sadness after his accident, which caused him to change physically. Like a real arachnid, Doctor Tarantula is always hiding in the shadows, concealed in the cracks of his lab. Doctor Tarantula hates being told what to do even by other villains like Loki or Lex Luthor or even the Electro Monster himself. His inferiority complex is the cause of this. It is revealed that Doc Tarantula has a vendetta against the Legion of Doom for some reason on keeping him in even worse slavery treatment than in Osborn Unlimited, and soon he removed one of its main leaders, Lex Luthor, to cover his status as a traitor. Backstory Once one of Dr. Maddie Connors’ brightest researchers, Timothy Tarantino’s brilliance was matched only by his arrogance. His radical experiments on animal-human gene fusion were deemed unethical and led to his dismissal from the program. Consumed by obsession and humiliation, he continued his research in secret, eventually testing his mutagenic formula on himself — transforming into the hybrid menace known as Dr. Tarantula. Now, seeking revenge on Connors and society for rejecting his genius, he leads a rogue scientific faction known as The Web Syndicate, aiming to reshape humanity into his twisted vision of perfection. Powers and Abilities Cyber-Organic Limbs: Four powerful spider appendages that can extend, retract, and strike with incredible force. Wall-Crawling: Enhanced grip and balance, allowing him to scale walls and ceilings like a spider. Neuro-Web Generation: Shoots glowing energy webs laced with neurotoxins that can paralyze or short out electrical systems. Genius-Level Intellect: Expert in genetics, robotics, and bioengineering, with a focus on cross-species mutation. Strategic Manipulation: Skilled in exploiting his opponents’ weaknesses and turning allies against each other. Weaknesses Inferiority Complex: He is always emotionally hurt if someone treats him like a slave. Chargeshock has exploited this many times. He even managed to trick him into turning on Loki, the Legion of Doom & the Electro Monster because they treated him like a slave. Trivia During the third season's premiere where Loki and Doctor Tarantula team up against Chargeshock, Loki switches bodies with Chargeshock as a part of their master plan. Doc Ock notes that the idea is brilliant and that he's "going to write that down". Doctor Tarantula and Electro Monster are the only villains to appear in the first episodes of the four seasons.
