Mason Thames (/θeɪmz/, born July 10, 2007) is a rising young actor who made a remarkable debut as the young teen lead in director/co-writer/producer Scott Derrickson’s hit horror movie, The Black Phone (2021), based on Joe Hill’s short story, co-starring Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, James Ransone and Ethan Hawke, and returning a spectacular gross of over $161 million (ten times costs) for Blumhouse Productions/Universal Pictures. Thames had his second starring role in his second theatrical feature with the David Henrie-directed adventure horror movie, Monster Summer (2024), co-starring Mel Gibson, Lorraine Bracco, Nora Zehetner, and Kevin James, and released wide by Pastime Pictures. Thames landed his biggest starring role to date as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III in director/writer/producer Dean DeBlois’ live-action adaptation of his original animated feature, How To Train Your Dragon (2025)—which itself was based on Cressida Cowell’s book series—co-starring Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Nick Frost, Bronwyn James and Harry Trevaldwyn and released by Universal Pictures. Thames co-starred with McKenna Grace, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco in the Josh Boone-directed screen version of Colleen Hoover’s novel, Regretting You (2025), produced by Constantin Film and released by Paramount Pictures. Mason Thames revived his role as Finney in director/co-writer/producer Scott Derrickson’s anticipated sequel, The Black Phone 2 (2025), co-starring Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Davies, Madeleine McGraw, Demian Bichir, and again produced by Blumhouse Productions and released by Universal Pictures. Thames reunited with co-star McKenna Grace in director/writer Lee Kirk’s road comedy, New Year’s Rev (date to be announced), with Jenna Fischer, Sean Gunn, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, Jolene Blalock, Angela Kinsey, Keen Ruffalo, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Buffy Milner, and Billie Joe Armstrong, and produced by Live Nation Productions. In high school, there are some ups and downs like bullies, rejections, and the cool kids. 17 year old, Reed Richards manages to survive and strive for success but struggling to fit in. He has his best friend, Ben Grimm who goes to school with him every day, until he met Sue Storm, the beautiful girl in school who is the center of attention and his little brother, Johnny who’s been a slacker and attempts to get through high school. Richard’s classmate, Victor Von Doom, is a genius also his lab partner in science class. Until one night, Ben, Richard, Sue, and Johnny find a meteor in the middle of nowhere but suddenly it explodes and conveys cosmic rays all over them which get affected. When they wake up, They discover their powers and figures how to use them. But when Victor finds out about Reed and his friends getting their superhuman abilities, Victor goes into the lab and gets affected by the meteor that they found in the middle of nowhere. Until he gets revenge on them for trying to win the science fair. What will it take for Reed and his companions to stop Victor from happening.
