First appeared in Bruce Wayne, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 in 1996 and was created by Chuck Dixon and Cary Nord. Bruce was a young man whose spy parents were assassinated by members of HYDRA. Wanting revenge, Bruce Wayne enlisted in S.H.I.E.L.D., where he was trained by World War II veterans Nick Fury and Sgt. Rock and eventually became the director.
