What if, after having his own solo mission, Metal Sonic witnesses the release of Gerald Robotnik's greatest creation, the Ultimate Lifeform... Shadow the Hedgehog, but, also uncovers the first creation Eggman made in his younger years... a jet black robot hedgehog that looks like said hedgehog... Metal Shadow, which was created as a replacement for Shadow if he ever died on the ARK, but was ultimately never used, leading Metal Sonic to go on his own adventure and rebel against Eggman, leading up to the events of Sonic Heroes.
