In 2070 the experimental ship Event Horizon, capable of creating a spacetime gateway to exceed light speed, vanished beyond Neptune. Seven years later its signal is intercepted with only one clear phrase: “Liberate me.”
The rescue ship Lewis and Clark under Captain Miller is sent to secure it. Aboard is also its designer, Dr. Weir. The crew soon discovers that the Event Horizon has not merely returned from interstellar space. Strange phenomena begin and members see apparitions of their dead. They gradually uncover that the ship violated the very structure of reality and brought back something that can no longer be switched off.
