Following Sir Justin's death, Jason Blood is summoned by Gloriana Tenebrae where he and other monster hunters are chosen to participate in a hunt to determine the new leader who will wield the relic: Caliburn. Sir Justin's daughter: Ystina arrives to take possession of the relic despite Gloriana warning her not to. The hunt begins in the labyrinthine area of the mansion with the captured monster implanted by the relic. After his encounter with Ystina, Jason finds the captured monster that turns out to be a friend: Swamp Thing, who he is looking for to be rescued. Jason is separated from the monster and reunites with Ystina hiding in a tomb room. The two agree to work together to free the monster, named Alec Holland, and obtain the relic for Ystina. Jason destroys a wall for Alec to escape into the woods while Ystina manages to extract the Caliburn. The relic itself reacts to Jason, indicating that he is a monster, when Gloriana and the remaining hunters arrive. Gloriana captures Jason and Ystina in a cage and begins enchanting her with the relic to reveal her true nature.
