Eragon is a high-fantasy story about a farm boy who becomes a Dragon Rider after a blue stone hatches into a dragon named Saphira. After the king's servants kill his uncle, Eragon and his mentor Brom flee, and he later joins the Varden rebels to fight against the empire, ultimately killing a Shade in battle.
