Set in the Equestria hometown, a fearless teenager named Rose Peters, who has recently moved from the city, encounters an orange mare named Odessa. While Rose is on the train to riding school, the horse is captured by cowboys and taken to the school to be "broken in". Rose immediately bonds with the mare and frees her from her pen. Rose also befriends fellow students and roommates Iris and Pollyanna. Iris owns a talented stallion named Merlinda, and Pollyanna owns a friendly mare named Johnny. The three girls call themselves NCAs and embark on many adventures with their horses.
