A demoted American major named William Cage who has never seen combat is forced to fight in a war against aliens that Earth has been fighting for years. After fighting a special version of one of the aliens, Cage realizes he's living the same day over and over again, and decides to use this to his advantage, along with the help of a woman named Rita who was in his same predicament.
