The American and Russian presidents meet with their advisors, where the Russian ambassador tells him that if either country is hit by nuclear weapons, the attack will trigger a "Doomsday Machine" which will destroy all plant and animal life on Earth. British Group Captain Leona Mandrake is the only person with access to demented Ripper. American President Merkin Muffley and Russian President Valentin Zakharov attempt to avert disaster by placating their ambassadors and former Stasi genius Dr. Strangelove concludes that "such a device would not be a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious". Will the bombers be stopped in time, or will Ripper and Vladimirov succeed in destroying the world ?
