The cryptile or cryptile lizard is a species of insectivorous agamid lizard endemic to the Mediterranean Salt Flat of 5 million AD. It is one of the very few animals adapted to survive on the surface of the salt flat, leaving only to lay eggs in limestone plateaux. It subsists entirely on the brineflies which inhabit hypersaline lakes, which it catches in large numbers using its sticky erectile frill.
