Terry Rossio (born July 2, 1960) is an American screenwriter and film producer. He co-wrote the films Aladdin, The Mask of Zorro, Shrek, and all five of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. For Shrek, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and won the Annie Award for Writing in a Feature Production and the BAFTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In a time before Donkey ever met Shrek or Puss, we meet a younger Donkey who was born in a forest near a small town. One day Donkey wanders off into it and discovers Waffles, and that changed his life. Donkey comes home that night but he knew that if he went out again he would be in trouble but he loved the thrill of adventure, the next day Donkey decides to go out and falls for a Waffle trap and gets transported to Old McDonalds Farm. There are many animals there but Donkey needs to escape and go back to his family. He tried everything but then his family found him and they decided to leave him there. Donkey, now distraught, decides to make new friends at the barn but everyone thinks he’s annoying, especially Mrs. McDonald. One Morning Old McDonald passes away of Old age and it’s up to Mrs. McDonald to deal with the barn animals and Donkey. Until she sees a flyer that Lord Farquaad wants fairy tale creatures and decides to take Donkey as the other talking animals escape and as Donkey looks back they thank him, but later that day he would meet an ogre that would change his life.
