CBS began to lose faith in the show at this point. The 5th Doctor didn't bring in the viewers that CBS expected and story lines had been drying up for years. Yet again CBS turned to another comedic actor to take over the role. However, they didn't want to spend a lot of money on the show anymore. They had also moved it to the dreaded Saturday night 9pm slot.
