The 1st Doctor has a bit of a pompous attitude. He is an explorer with a tough external shell. A shell that keeps his emotions in check. He cares about his companions but can seem shrewd to outside observers. The 1st Doctor is on the run from Gallifrey as he had just escaped it. --- This actor also blew up at production when it was said that the series would move forward without him as he was reportedly hard to work with and CBS had other ideas.
